Ultrafast Laser Laboratory

Research

lab

Our lab is located in Small Hall room 303 at the College of William & Mary campus in Williamsburg, VA. The laser system includes an ultrafast Ti:sapphire oscillator, pulse-picker and stretcher-compressor from KMLabs, a Millennia pump laser from Spectra-Physics, a multi-pass amplifier from Del Mar Photonics and an Evolution pump laser from Positive Light. Other equipment in the lab includes a precision test station for optical fiber studies and spectroscopy, a custom ultrafast metrology arrangement and an ultrahigh vacuum chamber with an image-quality microchannel plate detector. A wide range of studies in ultrafast and strong-field physics are possible and ongoing:

Strong-field atomic physics

Spatial laser beam modulation

Laser-matter interactions

Ultrafast Imaging
